"They call my restraint weakness, my hope for peace a traitor’s dream. But those who whisper in the shadows have never stood in the storm I have weathered, nor bled for the throne I guard. I could break the Rheyns in a season, burn their banners to ash… yet a kingdom won by fire is ruled by smoke. I will not leave my son a crown of cinders. I will leave him a kingdom whole — or die running toward the dream."
In the heart of Jesseri rises the kingdom of Kobel, and upon its obsidian throne sits Bo’Masi — the great albino sovereign of the Oji. Towering at a staggering seventeen feet, he eclipses even the tallest of his kind, whose average height falls between twelve and fourteen feet. His power in battle is the stuff of legend; his skill with strategy unmatched. Yet it is not conquest that drives him, but the fragile hope of peace — even with the Rheyns, the sworn enemies of his people.
That hope has branded him, in some eyes, as a traitor. In the shadowed halls of Kobel, whispers speak of a ruler too restrained, too merciful. But restraint is not weakness — and those who have tested his will have met a wrath swift enough to silence doubt. No challenger has yet dared press him too far; the memory of his victories and the weight of his presence are enough to keep blades sheathed.
Beyond the crown, Bo’Masi is a husband and father, bound to the dream of leaving his kingdom stronger than he found it. His chosen heir, Bo’Shon, lacks the all-white markings bestowed upon Oji leaders by bloodline — markings that instead graced his sister, Attira. This quirk of fate has stirred dissent, with some questioning whether Bo’Shon was meant to rule at all.
Still, Bo’Masi trains his son to rule with justice and strength, forging him into a leader worthy of the might of those who came before. Yet a question hangs over the kingdom like a stormcloud: can Bo’Masi unite Jesseri and restore it to the utopia it once was, or has the centuries-old blood feud between Oji and Rheyns bled the dream of peace beyond saving?
